INCLUSION & DIVERSITY

Better searches start with broader thinking.

We believe a good search should be led by evidence of what someone can contribute, not by familiarity, pedigree or who happens to know whom.

Traditional search can favour people who are already visible within established networks. Our cross-sector approach gives us access to people who may be highly successful but less obvious to a conventional search, including candidates whose experience, background or route into leadership is different from the expected profile.

We look beyond the obvious.

We deliberately consider candidates from different sectors, organisations and career paths. Someone who looks unconventional in one market may have exactly the experience and perspective another business needs.

We don't believe diversity is simply about demographics. Diversity of experience, thinking, perspective and circumstance can all make a leadership team stronger.

And sometimes the most interesting candidate is the person who wasn't on the original list of possibilities.

The brief matters.
So does challenging it.

We work hard to understand what a role actually requires rather than relying on a job title or a conventional career profile.

That may mean looking beyond the usual sector, considering an unusual career path or recognising potential where a CV doesn't follow the expected pattern.

We believe this is particularly important in senior appointments, where a narrow definition of the “right” background can unnecessarily reduce the talent pool.

Fair assessment

We aim to assess candidates against the requirements of the role and the evidence of what they can contribute, rather than familiarity or personal similarity.

Our searches are led by experienced consultants who understand that a shortlist should represent the strongest realistic candidates for the particular brief, not simply the people who were easiest to find.

We also believe that good assessment requires getting beyond the CV: understanding how someone thinks, what they have actually achieved, how they work with others and what they might be capable of next.

Our responsibility

We don't believe inclusion can be demonstrated by a single statistic or achieved through a formula.

We will continue to examine our own processes, challenge our assumptions and look for ways to make our searches broader and our assessments fairer.

Ultimately, our responsibility is straightforward:
To find exceptional people, wherever they are.
